Extension privacy

Your page stays yours.

ColorSwap Live Capture creates a visual file from the webpage you explicitly choose. Processing happens in your browser, and the result is saved directly to your device.

Effective July 22, 2026

Only when you ask

The extension accesses the current tab only after you open it and choose a capture action.

Sensitive inputs removed

Form values, passwords, cookies, request headers, request bodies, and write requests are excluded.

Saved to your device

Capture and fixture files are downloaded locally. The extension does not send them to ColorSwap or a third party.

What the extension handles

For a loaded-page capture, the extension reads the active page URL, title, rendered HTML, responsive styles, viewport size, and the public URLs of images and stylesheets the browser selected. For optional preview-data recording, it may also read successful, same-site JSON responses to GET requests while recording is visibly enabled.

What it deliberately excludes

Text entered into form fields and editable areas is cleared before a capture is saved. Passwords, cookies, browser storage, request headers, request bodies, non-GET requests, oversized responses, and fields with token-, secret-, credential-, cookie-, password-, API-key-, authorization-, or session-like names are not included.

How the data is used and shared

The data is used only to create the file you requested for a local ColorSwap visual preview. The extension has no analytics, advertising, account system, or server upload. ColorSwap does not sell, share, or allow people to read this data. When you open a capture in Studio, it remains in your current browser session. A preview may request public image or stylesheet URLs from their original website so those visuals can render.

Storage, deletion, and security

ColorSwap does not retain extension capture data on its servers. Files remain wherever your browser downloads them until you delete them. Optional recording state exists only in the page tab and ends when you stop it or close the tab. Active scripts are removed from visual captures before import.

Permissions

  • activeTab grants temporary access only to the tab where you invoke ColorSwap.
  • scripting runs the packaged capture code after your explicit action.
  • downloads saves the requested capture file on your device.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the extension's single, user-facing capture purpose and is not used for advertising, profiling, lending, or unrelated purposes.
